Taniela - Recount Writing Term 4 22nd October 2020

25th of February 2020: The very First thing we are going to do at school is going to be exciting. Today we are going to Goat Island for a class trip, we are the only class who's going (TWP 5 is going ) . We have packed all our clothes after swimming, I'm nervous and curious, of what they will lay forward for us. Later We got into a bus, the bus looked like a rugby bus. It was cool because: it had some cool features on it, like putting your seat down, and aircon. Before that day my teacher (Mrs Nees Kairua) told us that the drive is unexpectedly 1 and a half hour drive, it didn't seem that long, but it was so long, we were singing "wheels on the bus goes round and round," and I think the bus driver was annoyed, but it was funny. The next thing that happened. We (TWP 5) finally made it, it looked cool, and deep. And we met a man named Frazier, he said "he was the manager of this travelling system." He set up 2 groups one goes swimming, the other stays and explores the fish and the island. I was in Fraziers group, which meant we were explorers, while the others went swimming. Halfway in there Jacob and I were trying to find fish by the rock near the water, the swimmers were almost finished. "Jacob and I" saw an Eagle as big as a pig, but then Frazier corrected us saying, "that is not a Eagle it is a Turkey Vulture" I didn't wanna ask what a "Turkey Vulture" was because I thought i would get embarrassed. We finnaly got into the water, it was freezing cold, but it didn't matter. "Jacob and I" were in a group, we saw so many fish, I almost touched some, then we got to another island, but actually Goat Island is a Marine reserve, I left Jacob, then "I and Huti raced, it seemed to bet a tie, but we didn't know, because both couldn't see, we finally got back to shore, and changed, everybody was setting on the ground, eating a apple. We all got into the bus, and left, I Slept through the whole drive. We got back to school and everyone was waiting, then we all went home, my hair was so messy. The End

Whānau and family time

Whānau and family time Think of a time when you did something special with your whānau or family. Write to recount that time. Who? My auntys, my cousins, Josaia, Maraia. What? My uncle's team lost 102 - 7, but it was a very amusing game . When? We got there at 11:33, and we went home at 4'o o'clock Where? In mount wellington grounds, in "57 Hamlin Rd". Why? We went to my uncle's rugby game, in mount wellington rugby grounds. How? WE got there by a van, and when we stopped, we started to walk. First Saturday morning, 17th of October , My aunty informed us that our cousins are coming over for an event that they are taking us to, I didn't know what that event was?. My aunty started to tell us that we have to clean up the whole house or we are not going, so we started to, we also have to shower. Doing all that work was a drag, it was so exhausting. After cleaning up We had to go to the library to return our books, I didn't have to, because I already did . 30 minutes later we exited the library with new books, our cousins were here, they took us. In the car my aunty said "that they were going to watch my uncle's game in 57 Hamlin Rd", I asked "where is that" "in Mount Wellington rugby field" she said. Later We arrived there, and the game had already started, it looked like Marist was winning (my uncle's team) I didn't really know.? This boy had a blue rugby ball, he started shouting out who wanted to play rugby, my cousin said "ok!". 1 hour passed everybody was so energetic, i was out of breath, the game was almost finished. Finnaly it would be over, Marist was so close to the try line, but Mt Wellington's defence was good, Marist had so much space that they could try, and they scored,my uncle scored and the ref announced "try". The game finished, and the other team (Mt Wellington) won by 102 - 7. it was a very good game, I hope we do it next week.

Math starters (Table torture)

 Today for our math starters we did "Table Torture" (Table Torture is a math game, that helps with your time tables,  it get number and tells you to work this out, it also gives a timer to see what you finish at) my timer is 06.02 and I got everyone right, because some of them were wrong so i made some adjustment. 

My goal for today: my goal for today is to finish in time that is good for my level.

As I saw it - The Adventure of Carrot Marmalade

My real Story: Scurvy killed lots of sailors. No one knew how to fix it. Cook made the crew things with Vegetables in them (like Sauerkraut, Malt and Carrot marmalade ) to see if they would fix the Scurvy. The Idea worked.

         Now my creative story:

Hi I am Carrot Marmalade. I was made by John Tompson, bare handed. I am very yummy, and very easy to make. 

We stopped in a place called Mercury bay, it was 1767, I am writing this in my journal, so don’t complain. So I have just made plans to escape, but first I heard people that speak another language. I was confused because I didn’t know what they were saying, but at least they were distracted. So my plan is to look yummy for the birds, so they can grab me, and fly me away. 

I saw a bird looking at me like i'm some sort of food. I was disgusted, but my plan would work. It came down, then BANG! I heard something very scary. The bird left with a frightened face. I saw smoke coming out of a cannon.

Then another BANG! except it was smaller, then i looked there was smoke coming out of the gun. I was confused again, because who did he shoot it at, then I knew he shot it at the forgien people. Then a bright light came down. I couldn’t see anything then VRRROOOMMM! I was in the water, I thought my plan worked. I was found by these odd looking people. They looked like scavengers, then they said “this is John Thompson's Carrot Marmalade.” I asked “is this was 1767?” they said “it's 2020!” Then they sprayed me with a bottle of sanitizer. 

They took me to a cabinet (in a place you call a house) . It was open a little bit and I saw a text saying ``Coronavirus has a token over the world.”I told them to spray me more with the sanitizer more, but they didn't listen. I wondered why.
